Startup Women is a community-building initiative that aims to support female founders and leaders while providing more opportunities for men and women to work together.

The Startup Women initiative is made possible through grant funding from Google for Entrepreneurs and The Blackstone Charitable Foundation. With their support, I have been fortunate to work with leaders from various startup communities to find new ways of supporting female entrepreneurs and their communities. A few of our goals for 2014 include:

  • Support the creation of 1,500 female-led startups

  • Host 25 Startup Weekend Womens Edition events (currently at 33)

  • Create an advisory board for Startup Women efforts

  • Reach 100,000 new female entrepreneurs through Startup Digest

  • Amplify the stories of female entrepreneurs through multimedia storytelling

  • Connect female founders and entrepreneurs through social media, special events, and new opportunities

  • Encourage community-level discussions and networking around the topic of diversity and why it is critical to a thriving community
